Monotypes
A monotype or monoprint is a one-off print, produced on a blank matrix. Working on a thin sheet of perspex with a simple guide drawing placed underneath I build up images gradually using multiple layers of ink rolled on to the perspex, passing the matrix and paper through the press each time. I work into the greasy, viscose lithography ink removing areas using a rag, stencils, solvent, brushes, twigs, dried flowers – whatever comes to hand.
